Shark Ritu Singh Vaidya, Managing Director of United Traders Syndicate Pvt. Ltd. (UTS), the authorized distributor of Toyota vehicles in Nepal, is one of the country’s most prominent and dynamic figures in the automobile industry. As a leading woman in a traditionally male-dominated sector, Vaidya exemplifies vision, resilience, and multifaceted leadership.

She plays a pivotal role in her family’s business empire, Vaidya’s Organization of Industries and Trading House (VOITH), which spans key sectors including automobiles, financial services, agriculture, and heavy machinery. Her newest ventures include the distributorship of major heavy equipment brands such as XCMG and SUNWARD. Her leadership reflects a commitment not only to corporate growth but also to creating a lasting impact in Nepal’s industrial landscape.

Vaidya’s journey began in the world of fashion and beauty. At just 19, she captured international attention as fifth runner-up at Miss World, second runner-up at Miss Asia World, and first runner-up at Miss India Universe. Although she initially pursued a career in modeling and fashion design, her passion for entrepreneurship ultimately led her to Nepal’s business sector.

Educated in Delhi, she holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from Delhi University and a diploma in fashion design. Upon relocating to Nepal, she ran a fashion design business for seven years and later launched Spa Prana. A woman of many talents, she is also a trained Hindustani classical singer and has released an album titled Sun Zara, appearing in its music videos.B

eyond her corporate responsibilities, Vaidya serves on the board of the SAARC Chamber of Women Entrepreneur Council and the Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal. She is also investing in microfinance initiatives aimed at empowering women through entrepreneurial funding, and her group’s latest project, HUAXIN CEMENT, is set to begin producing 3,000 tons daily. The group is also eyeing investment in hydropower and other infrastructure sectors.
